Sit next to me and listen.

The world is full of sad and boring stories, you know.

Still, listen.

Gabriel’s desperate sips in every drink.

The creak of Melissa’s door opening at dawn.

Annie’s sobs hidden in the bathroom.

Listen.

Rodrigo’s men in black who whisper in the windows of buildings.

Clarice’s ghost that whimpers in every puddle of rain.

Gabriela’s elephant that mocks her in the mirror.

Listen.

Yesterday Francis cried in the shoulder of a beggar.

Yesterday Valdemir’s heart stopped three times in three buses.

Yesterday Larissa bought more coats.

Tomorrow there will be too many people in Charlie’ presentation.

Tomorrow there will be too much shouting in Miss Sandra’s class.

Tomorrow Alfred will drive too fast behind the wheel.

And poor Santiago will drown in his own dreams.

Listen! Really listen!

The request that didn’t come out of Michael’s throat.

The plane that makes Enzo run under the table.

The ten audios of Granny Lucy saying that she’s going to buy bread for breakfast, every afternoon.

Iara’s inspiring laugh on day 1.

Iara’s heartbreaking scream on day 2.

Restless Sam’s fingers on the joystick at three in the morning.

The tireless Melissa’s fingers on the PC at three in the morning.

The world is full of sad and boring stories, you know.

Still, listen.

Never stop listening.
